Pho Realz

I'm usually the token Vietnamese guy at work and amongst friends (although I'm technically half Chinese).  I enjoy playing this role and I find some of the questions that people ask me quite amusing and funny.  Whether it's someone new or someone that I know, the questions usually involve my name or pho, the delicious Vietnamese beef noodle soup.

pho2

Mmmmm...

Here are some samples:

1) I knew this guy named, Danny Nguyen, in LA.  Are you related to him?
2) I had pho last week.  Do you eat pho a lot?
3) I usually order a large #4.  Which one do you get?
4) Do you know how to make pho?
5) What's your favorite pho place?

I'll admit...I play the pho card a lot because I think it's funny.  I'll tell people that my sweat is actually pho broth.  It's only because I'm quite proud of my heritage.

pho3

Yeah that's right

Answers: 1) No, 93% of Vietnamese are Nguyens  2) Actually, I haven't had pho in a couple months...shameful! But I love it!  3) Large #1 or the one with all kinds of stuff in it  4) Never made it myself...defer to Mom  5) Pho Sate off Rte 50

I can relate (although you might not think so at first).

When I first moved to DC from Colorado, the standard questions were:
** Wow, you're from Colorado, so, you ski, right?
** Do you own a horse?
** (from democrats) Oh, that's a concervative state!
** (from republicans) Oh, that's a liberal state!
** (my personal favorite) So, do you own a gun?

My intern and I have agreed to go get pho once a week. Good stuff. You shame one half of you! (Are eating Chinese food regularly? Don't shame both halves of your heritage! )

Hey Thanh, I hear Pho 75 in Falls Church is the best pho place in NoVA.

As for the yummy breakfast pic on my page, you MUST check it out, if you like breakfast place!! Smith & Clarkson's. It's off of Port Royal (I think) when you get off the Braddock exit from 495. The place is in the same shopping area as the Safeway. You have to order the Combo meal and get the french toast. It's absolutely delicious!!! :)

As for KOB... didn't know he has a new album out. Thanks for the info.

You're probably right!! I totally should've saved that piece of fat. But I wouldn't have wanted to lug it around with me all night long. haha.
